Joseph Michael Shiha, a cherished pillar of his family, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan. Born on February 20, 1961, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Joseph's life was a testament to the values of love, family, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Joseph's journey began as the beloved son of Hasna and Mike Shiha, growing up alongside his brother John (Joanne) Shiha. Joseph moved to Detroit, where he built a life filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of a close-knit family.
As a devoted and deeply loved husband, Joe is survived by his wife, Diane Shiha, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring marriage. Together, they raised their adored children-Michael Shiha, Melissa (Todd) Justman, and John (Marie) Shiha-who each inherited their father's kindheartedness and strong family values. Joe's role as a father was one of his greatest joys, and he instilled in his children the importance of authenticity, hard work, and the irreplaceable bond of family. Joe is also survived by his parents Hasna and Mike Shiha.
Joe had boundless love for his granddaughters Isabel and Genevieve. They were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is also lovingly remembered by his niece Meaghen Shiha and nephews Collin and Matthew Shiha, as well as by the extended family and many friends whose lives he touched.
A tireless worker, Joe was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. His love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him, as he spent hours fishing and grilling, relishing the peace and beauty of nature. These moments were only surpassed by the joy he found in hosting Sunday dinners, where his family gathered around the table to share food, laughs, and the warmth of each other's company.
Those who had the privilege of crossing paths with Joe would describe him as a loving, kind, and generous man whose actions spoke louder than words. Joe's legacy is not only in the memories he leaves behind but also in the example he set for how to live a life full of purpose and love. Funeral will be Saturday, February 8th, 2025 instate beginning at 8:30am until time of his mass of resurrection at 11:00 am, celebrated by Rev. John Shiha at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church, 43888 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, 48038.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, in remembrance of Joseph Shiha.

In 2012 a small army of 8 travelled to Detroit Michigan (from Sydney) to meet our cousins for the 1st time. We were met by what felt like a village of people who gave us a reception we could never forget. And although we lived a world apart, they now reside close to our hearts. Thank you for the great memories. And at this difficult time, you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

To my dear Uncle Mike, Aunty Hasna , Cousin John and dear Diane and family. My heartfelt condolences to you on the loss of our dearly loved Joe. I shall always treasure the wonderful times I spent with cousin Joe and family more than 30 years ago now. I recall how happy and excited we were, two cousins meeting for the first time and discovering how much we shared, valued, and had in common. God rest his beautiful soul and give you comfort. You are all in my heart, thoughts and prayers. Your niece Gloria Saliba x
