Joseph A. "Joe" Steadman, 77, of Campobello, husband of Debra C. Steadman, passed away Saturday, May 24th, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Boyce Lee Steadman, and Nellie Ruth Henson. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Joe lived a life defined by hard work, quiet dedication, and an unshakable love for his family. Married to his beloved wife Debra for over 40 years, Joe found his greatest joy in the life they built together.
He spent his life working hard as a plumber for W.N. Kirkland for over 28 years, later working for Spartanburg Regional in maintenance. Beyond his professional life, Joe's heart and soul belonged to his family, they were a source of immense pride and joy.
Joe was immensely proud of his acreage that he called "God's Country," where he built the family home, raised his children, and made countless memories with his grandchildren. Whether he was tinkering with tools, working the land, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of his property, Joe was truly at peace outdoors. One of the proudest moments of his later years came when his daughter purchased the adjoining 3 acres to build her home. A true testament to the love and closeness of their family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudette Marie Putnam, and son-in-law Jerry Ray Putnam Sr., brothers; Woodrow Steadman, and Donald Steadman and a sister, Mary Ruth Atkins.
Joe is survived by is beloved wife Debra, son, Joseph A. Steadman Jr., daughters; Maggie A. Boyd (Stephen), and Rhonda L. Steadman, brothers; Terry Steadman, and Darrell Steadman, sisters; Kathy Rogers, and Gail Sprouse (Louie), grandchildren; Caleb N. Skipper, Bryson S. Skipper, Abbie G. Skipper, Charlotte J. Boyd, Lillian S. Boyd, Oliver L. Boyd, Jerry Ray Putnam Jr. (Amy), and William Hammett, great grandchildren; Kensley Putnam, Nathan Putnam, Jackson Putnam, and Kierra Putnam, along with many nieces and nephews.
Joe Steadman was a good man - the kind of man who built more than a house; he built a home, a family, and a life full of meaning. He will be missed beyond measure and remembered always.
The Family will hold a Memorial Service in Joe's Honor 12:00 PM, Thursday, May 29th, 2025 at New Beginnings UMC.
