It is with profound sadness that the family of Joseph Alan "Joe" Stuckenschneider, 68, of Union, announces his passing on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Though his time with us was cut short, he lived a life of joyful exuberance that was full of purpose, faith, and boundless love for his family.

Joe was born in Rolla, Missouri to his late parents, Ken and Rose Stuckenschneider. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jay and Jeff. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kelly; his siblings John, Jed, Jack, and Joyce; his children Michael (Sarah), Jenny, and Scott (Aleana); and his three adoring grandchildren, Ella, Finn, and Lily.

A deeply devoted Catholic, Joe's faith was the bedrock of his life and a guiding force in everything he did. His love for God was evident not just in his regular attendance at St. Timothy's Church, but in his unwavering kindness, generosity, and compassion for others. His faith was a source of great comfort and strength, and he shared its light with his family and community.

From a young age, Joe was captivated by the sky. He found his true calling early in life, earning his pilot's license before he was old enough to drive. This passion led to a fulfilling career, beginning with his dedicated service in the Air Force where he forged lifelong friendships. He went on to fly for over 33 years with Delta Airlines. For Joe, flying was never just a job; it was a joy, a gift, and an extension of his spirit. He cherished the freedom of the air and the camaraderie he shared with his fellow pilots.

Above all, Joe's greatest source of pride and happiness was his family. As a devoted husband, proud father, and doting grandfather, "Pop-Pop" was the anchor of his family, providing a steady source of support, wisdom, and laughter. He loved nothing more than spending time with his kids and grandchildren, sharing stories and creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever. His enduring love for his family was a testament to his generous heart and the beautiful life he built.

Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home (7500 U.S. Hwy 42, Florence, Kentucky 41042). The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Saint Timothy's Church (10272 US-42, Union, KY 41091), followed by a burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North (205 Eibeck Ln, Williamstown, KY 41097) at 1:00 pm. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at Joe's house following the burial at 4:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption Endowment Fund or the Diocese of Covington Seminarian Education Fund.

With profound sadness I am at a loss for words as I read that Joe had passed away in the Airline Pilot magazine; unbelievable. Captain S-15 was always a pleasure to fly with, and I always loved every minute spent with him on a Delta rotation. He was and remains a positive and exuberant personality and presence. Fly West, Joe, and thanks for the memories. To his family...thank you for sharing him with us all!

John and I send our condolences from
Cleveland where we live now and just celebrated our 9th grandbaby being baptized. Being at St Tim´s with your family was a great blessing. Just as Lous said, simply say "Joe" and he´d turn to face us with a big growing smile. May God bless each one of you at this difficult time. We are praying that he´s with Jesus, and believe he will be waiting for us all with that joyful countenance.

I went to high school in Kansas City (St. Pius X) with Joe. I considered him to part of one of my two "triumvirate" friendships from middle and high school. The high school triumvirate consisted of myself, Kevin Kissinger and Joe. Though Kevin was closer to Joe, I considered the three of us to be peas in a pod. My dad had been a pilot for TWA so I found it ironic that Kevin and Joe both became pilots (though Kevin was never a commercial pilot), and I never became a pilot. RIP Joe.

Joe should have been named Joy because he was a joyful man always. When you said his name and he turned to see you that wonderful smile was on his face. Joe choose the just right partner in life with Kelly. Together they were awesome. I miss you Joe, Kelly I know you are thankful for the life and family you and Joe created. Peace, Lois Jean Lambers. I won't be able to attend but will be there in spirit.
