Joseph Titta Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hanley Funeral Home, Inc. - Staten Island on Mar. 16, 2023.
.Joseph A. Titta Jr., age 83, died peacefully on February 1, 2023 at 83 years old surrounded by his beloved son and daughter in law. Lovingly known as Pops, he was born on March 10, 1939 to Marina and Joseph Titta and grew up with his siblings John, Santino, Angela, and Frank. He is survived by his son, Joseph A Titta III, daughter in law Helene Bokser, his beloved grandchildren Joseph, Dylan, Jennie, Benjamin, David, and Joseph, and his siblings Angela and Frank. Pops was known as a storyteller with a sense of humor – you would find anyone in his company often laughing at his jokes, recollections of the old times, and enjoying his playful banter. As a child, he attended St. Christophers, St. Louis Academy, and St. Peter's Boys High School. At each institution, he was remembered by the faculty as an incredibly unique student, leaving a lifelong memory for those who instructed him. After serving his country as a helicopter mechanic in Fort Benning, Georgia, he went off to have a successful career as a salesman and manager at various places including Acella Crysler, Wagner's Garage, and Newark Ladder. More than anything, Pops was known as a family man and married the love of his life Margaret (DeYoung) Titta on April 20, 1963. They spent 47 years together raising their son, enjoying their grandchildren, and above all, living deeply in love and in joy to share their time together until her passing in 2010. Their family finds peace in knowing they are together once again. Wake will be held on Wednesday, February 8th from 7:00-9:00pm at Hanley Funeral Home. Mass will follow on Thursday, February 9th at 10:30am at St. Christopher's Church.
