Joseph F. Toczek

"Mustang Joe"

1945-2023

Joseph F. Toczek of Springville, New York passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023 at the age of 77. After several months of declining health, Joe died of heart failure at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. He is sadly missed by his daughter, family, and friends.

Joe was born in Buffalo, New York on October 22, 1945 to parents, Joseph A. Toczek and Jean (Penkacik) Toczek. He grew up in Buffalo, attended Buffalo Public Schools, played baseball, and graduated from Buffalo State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Joe started his career teaching grade school in 1968 and retired in 2001 after 33 years of dedicated service with the Buffalo School System. Joe's first car was a yellow Ford Mustang convertible which sparked his lifelong love of Mustangs and earned him the nickname "Mustang Joe." He enjoyed teaching, telling jokes, and helping others.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and sister. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (David) Baker; three grandchildren; a niece and two nephews; extended family; and dear friends in Buffalo, Springville, East Aurora, and West Seneca.
