Joseph Richard Toro, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on October 6, 1939.
He was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later dedicated his career to the Budd plant, where he ultimately retired. He was known for his sense of humor and witty intelligence. He would watch Wheel of Fortune every night and would always figure out the puzzle before anyone else. Joseph was very tech savvy and mechanically inclined. He taught his daughter Sherry to work on cars. He was always fixing or working on something. More than anything, he loved greatly. Joseph cherished his family. He shared a deep and loving bond with his wife of 44 years, Frances. He loved sitting on his porch relaxing on his swing with Frances enjoying their home. He loved watching their favorite TV shows together and going for walks at the various consignment shops. Joseph had a mancave where he kept his tools and techy stuff. When his daughter Denise would visit, he always cooked his delicious tacos or pizza and, in the morning, his very special doughboys. They would watch action movies till midnight hours snacking on ice cream, cookies, chips and popcorn. It was their nightly routine to watch one or two movies every night in his man cave. Joseph was very strong and could press over 55 lbs on the exercise machines at Planet Fitness. Joseph was very proud and happy to have purchased 2 acres of land. He enjoyed working in his yard and took great pride in planting trees, bushes and plants on his land.
Joseph will be deeply missed by his wife, Frances; his children, David, Denise, Daniel, Joseph, Sherry, and Richard; his 22 grandchildren; and his 22 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM for family and close friends all services are being held at Powell Funeral Home of Bald Knob.
