Joseph Truncale Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Raymond Funeral Service PA - La Plata on Jan. 5, 2026.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph "Joe" Robert Truncale of New Carrollton, Maryland, on December 29, 2025.

Joe was born on September 10, 1942 in the Bronx, New York, to Peter and Celia (Gaglio) Truncale. He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Vincent and Peter, and his beloved first wife, Valerie Truncale, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage and raised three sons: Robert, Peter, and Christopher.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of four years, Rebecca Daguio-Truncale, his children Robert (Debbie), Peter (Anne), and Christopher; his grandchildren Amanda (Tommy), Nathaniel (Kathryn), Alyssa, and Caden; and his great grandchildren Rory and Hayden. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

After graduating high school Joe proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant (E6) in the communications field during his 17 years of service.

Joe was a man of faith who loved serving the Lord and his community. He was an active member and usher of Fellowship Church in White Plains, Maryland, and worked with the Awana Ministry, mentoring youth for many years.

In his early years, Joe enjoyed hunting - especially all types of land and water fowl. Joe also found joy in traveling, fishing, and cheering on the Washington Redskins. He loved old cowboy movies and 50's music which always brought a smile to his face. Above all, Joe cherished time with his family. He was known for his big heart, kindness, and generosity.

Joe's life was a testament to love, faith, family, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm in the Raymond Funeral Home Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, LaPlata, Maryland. A funeral service will follow 12:00 pm– 1:00 pm. Interment will take place immediately afterward at Cheltenham Veteran's Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland.
