Joseph Albert Urk, age 77, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025. He was born on November 17, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the loving parents of Virgil and Edna Urk (nee Spreder).
He is survived by his loving son Christopher (Tami) Urk, his daughter Kelly (John) Allgeier and a cherished niece Hollie (Rob Harrison) Myers. Joe’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Joe (Beth Day) Powell, Jacob Allgeier, Dylan (Bella Dowrey) Urk, Lauren Allgeier, Ashley Urk, and John “JJ” Allgeier, Jr. Additionally, he was blessed with two great-grandchildren: Teddy Day-Powell and Everett McDaniel-Allgeier, along with a wide circle of family and friends that will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil T. Urk, Sr.; mother, Edna M. Urk; brothers, Paul Urk, Virgil “Teddy” Urk, Jr., David C. Urk; sisters Kathy Myers and Bonnie Finley and his beloved wife of over 50 years, June E. Urk.
The cornerstone of Joe’s life was the love he had for his family as a husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. From coaching little league for his son and watching dance recitals and drill team competitions for his daughter many, many years ago to attending football & baseball games and wrestling matches to support his grandson Dylan, watching many cheer competitions to support his granddaughter Ashley and attending T-ball, baseball, and basketball games and watching archery matches to support JJ – Joe was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching all types of sports on television. He had his favorite hometown sports teams as well as several family favorites that he followed. He also enjoyed watching the gameshow network. He enjoyed playing the lottery, collecting quarters and collecting NASCAR, Coca-Cola and Budweiser memorabilia. FORD was his truck brand.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 3:00 PM until the funeral service at 5:00 PM, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, Westside Chapel, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211.
