Joseph Milfred Walton, Jr., 82 of Wellington, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at The Ashton on the Plaza in Kansas City, MO.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, 20109 Bus. MO-13, Higginsville, MO, 64037. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lumino’s Hospice. Memories of Joseph and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page. Joseph was born on November 7, 1942, in Wellington, MO to Joe Milfred and Irene (Connor) Walton. He graduated in 1960 from Wellington-Napoleon High School. After high school he attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Joseph retired from the United States Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic, after serving 26 years. He earned numerous Decorations and Medals while honorably serving. After being honorably discharged and returning home to Wellington, Joseph worked as a mechanic locally for a short time. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Joseph enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, and driving around the countryside.
Joseph is survived by three children, Cassandra Cole of Lexington, MO, Joseph T. Walton of Laveen, Arizona and Jason A. Walton of Roy, Utah, and; five grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Mason of Kansas City, MO; a special friend, Mary Steward of Knob Noster, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by three sisters, Joan Thomas, Beverly Nelson, and Sandra Bratton.
