Joseph Chester Weber, age 84 of Appleton, WI, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was called to his heavenly home on May 31, 2025. Joe passed away surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born on May 31, 1941, to the late Renzie and Emma Weber in Dodgeville, WI. That's right, he died on his birthday. What a wonderful gift he gave to himself to leave this life on earth and go be with his wife in heaven. He married the love of his life, Ellen Weier, on September 4, 1961. They enjoyed 61 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to witness it. Joe took great pride in raising four children alongside Ellen.
Joe spent his entire career in the HVAC industry. He started his own HVAC company, Weber Sales, in 1975. He built a successful business along with his wife. Later his son, Kevin, joined and eventually took over the company.
Joe loved his family and truly enjoyed spending time with them. Specifically, Joe cherished the time with his nine great-grandchildren that were all born in the last three years. Joe enjoyed reading, playing cards and dominos, hunting, fishing, traveling, golfing, and visiting with family and friends. Joe loved spending time at the family cottage in Townsend, WI. He especially enjoyed pontoon rides, snowmobiling, and beating anyone he could in a game of Cribbage, Euchre or Monte Carlo. Joe also enjoyed being a snowbird, spending over twenty winters in Sebring, FL.
Joe will be greatly missed by his children: Kevin (Debbie), Steve, Jeff (Melissa) and Susan (Mike) Michlig. Joe was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren: Kyle (Jenny) Weber, Ryan (Anna) Weber, Emily (Jason, daughter Sophia) Roberson, Nick Weber, Joshua (Katie) Weber, Tyler (Johanna) Weber, Meghan (James) DeGrave, Kaitlyn (Jacob) Roskopf, Lindsey (Austin) Dyb and Michael Michlig. He was also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren: Oliver, William, Stella, Parker, Lincoln, Walter, Wyatt, Miley and Nolan.
Joe will be further missed by his brother Mike (Rita) Weber, in-laws: June Weber, Elaine Stephens, Jerry (Sharon) Weier, Jan (Don) Ederer, Karen (Rolly) Squire and Dan Weier and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Ellen, parents, father and mother-in-law: Edward and Mary Jane Weier, brothers Norman, Nelmer and Laverne, sisters Bernice, Isabel, Alvina, Ardella and Rosie. In-laws: Kenny Rakow, Norma Webber, Stanley Phillips, Kenny Olson, Dave Phillips and Wayne Stephens.
Our family is deeply grateful to the compassionate staff at Fresenius Kidney Care who provided dialysis for our dad for ten years. Dad made sure he never missed "work" on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We also are appreciative of the dedicated caregivers at Primrose Retirement Community, whose unwavering support and kindness brought comfort and independence through their assisted living care. The relationships he formed with the staff and residents went beyond the norm - all of them became a source of strength, laughter, and genuine connection.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 5 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 South State Street, Appleton with Father Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. The funeral will be livestreamed at http://stmaryparish.org/funeral-livestream/. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Joe's name to the charities listed. Please don't click on the links to plant a tree or order flowers. Dad was very concerned about scams and quite frankly would rather have one of his favorite charities, including St. Joseph Food Program, Pillars, or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital receive donations to help others.
