Joseph Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wasik Funeral Home - Shelby Township on Jan. 31, 2025.
Joseph T. Williams passed away on January 29, 2025 at Shelby Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shelby Township, Michigan at the age of 70. Joe was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 19, 1954 to Walter and Genevieve Williams.
Joe was a dedicated family man. Devoted to his late wife of over 40 years, Mary B. Williams. Loving and supportive Daddy to Michelle (the late Ronald; fiancé Greg Brigman) Haarer and Jennifer (Kennith) Stamper. Proud Papa to Genna and Joey. Survived by his caring brothers and best friend: Ronny (Judy) Williams, Steve (Kathy) Williams, Richard Williams, Johnie (Luann) Williams, Dave (Barb) Cilli; several nieces and nephews, supportive family and friends, including his brother-in-law Bogdan (Maxine) Stepien.
Joe has left a lasting impression on many. He loved talking about his inventions and gave excellent advice ("every time you leave the house, you spend money"). While he has been non-verbal for the past 9 years at Shelby, there was never any doubt of what he was thinking or feeling. One of his care staff called him "an angel here on earth." Papa Joe loved listening to his granddaughter, Genna, talk about her week. Joe loved watching his favorite Detroit sports teams and old movies. He was a natural caretaker and great cook. Joe had the solution to every problem. He maintained his family home and yard, as well as helping many of his neighbors.
Joe's sense of humor and sarcasm was expressed whether he could speak or not. Let's not forget his sayings to get his point across. If you were blocking his view, "Your mother wasn't a glass maker." If you left the door open, "Were you born in a barn?" If you wore too much makeup, "Is the circus in town?" These saying will stay with us always, as we are "just carrying on an ole family tradition."
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time and create memories with your loved ones.
