Joseph (Joe) was born June 20, 1939 to Francis and Margaret (Coffindaffer) Wohletz. Joe was a 1957 Graduate of Bishop Ward High School and attended Rockhurst College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry in 1961; one of the first degrees to be earned in the Wohletz family. Throughout his life, Joe was an accomplished golfer having won multiple tournaments and has two hole-in-ones at Sunflower Hills. He loved spending time with his family, rooting for the Kansas Jayhawks, taking care of his lawn, and was known to his friends as "Honest Joe."

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rosemary (Clarence) Moss, and son Joseph "Mike" Wohletz. He is survived by his wife Mary of 63 years; 3 children, Judy (John) Wohletz, Dr. Jerry (Tina) Wohletz, both of Boston MA, and Jenny (Jim) Pelner of Phoenix, AZ; two granddaughters (Natalie and Madeleine), one grandson (Brett); 2 siblings, Patrick (Patricia) Wohletz of Olathe, KS and Geraldine Johnson of Olathe, KS. A special heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Lukes Hospital and Hospice for their outstanding compassion and care.
