In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Pierce; two brothers, Henry and John Wroe; and stepson, Paul Shea.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Janice M. Wroe of Murrells Inlet, SC; two sons, Michael Wroe of Watertown, MA and David Wroe of Norwood, MA; two daughters, Donna Parks and her husband, Michael of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jennifer Riley of Murrells Inlet, SC; one brother Harold Wroe and his wife, Patricia of TN; five grandchildren, Duncan, Nathan, Tanner, Declan, Derrik; a stepson, David Shea of Waltham; as well as step-grandchildren, Jack & Olivia.
Joseph proudly served in the United States Airforce as well as the Air National Guard. He retired from Nynex Telephone company after forty-three years of dedicated service.
A celebration of Joseph's life will be held 10:30am Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made in Joseph's name to the Dementia Society of America, https://www.dementiasociety.org/donate

We are just heartbroken over Joe's passing, and are so sorry we could not get down there to be part of the memorial. Joe was a wonderful, caring, loving grandfather with the best laugh and such a big heart. We have such fond memories spending time with him in Myrtle Beach. It's so hard to believe he is gone. We hope he is enjoying eating all of his favorite foods in Heaven and watching lots of WWII documentaries! Love, Jack, Olivia, Julia and Melissa.
