Joseph A. Yenchik of Bear Creek Township passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, March 6, 2026.
Born July 20, 1945, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John and Anna Heck Yenchik.
Joseph attended the former Marymount School in Wilkes-Barre and was a 1963 graduate of Hanover Township High School. He continued his education at Penn State University, receiving his degree in survey engineering with a focus in 3D photogrammetry.
He was employed as a surveyor and later crew chief for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, retiring after 39 years.
Joe was an avid hunter and a New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed Western movies and loved relaxing at home, enjoying the warm, sunny summer days. He especially loved his family as they were the most important part of his life. As he sought for each of them to succeed through his wisdom and knowledge, he did his best to see that happen.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, the former Paulette Skordensky; daughters, Renee Kaplan and her husband, David, of North Abington Township; Michele Prudente and her husband, Joseph, of Bear Creek Township; Denise Clark and her husband, William, of Bear Creek Township; and son, Joseph P. Yenchik and his wife, Jenifer, of Bear Creek Township; and grandchildren, Danielle Prudente, Jason Prudente, William Clark III, Matthew Clark, and Joseph G. Yenchik.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre.
