Our dear mother, Joyce Perini of Hollywood, FL, sadly passed away on April 23, 2025 at the age of 101. Joyce was born in Passaic, NJ to John and Helen Florek in 1923. She grew up with her sister Phyllis and two brothers, Joe and George. While in high school, she met her future husband, William Perini, in a soda shop. There was a jukebox where the boys would put in money and then ask the girls to dance. They dated throughout high school.
Joyce went to business school after graduating and studied typing, stenography and bookkeeping. When she graduated she got a job as a bookkeeper.
When World War II broke out, Bill enlisted in the Army Air Corps. On his last mission his plane was shot down and he was sent to a military hospital in Coral Gables, FL. Joyce got on a train and traveled from NJ to FL to be with him. They married at the chapel in the hospital. Joyce and Bill raised their two daughters, Jan and Ardell, in Clifton, NJ. Bill started a landscaping business and Joyce sent out the bills and was his bookkeeper.
After retiring, they moved to Hollywood, FL where they enjoyed being with family, going on cruises and playing cards with friends and family. They were married for 67 wonderful years before Bill died in 2012.
Surviving are her two daughters, Jan Sandri and Ardell Metzger (Paul), four grandchildren, Jennifer, Bill, Lynn and Michael, five great grandchildren, Billy, Faith, Evan, Mason and Isabella, her brother George, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on June 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maurice at Resurrection Catholic Church, 441 NE 2nd Street, Dania Beach, FL. A Celebration of Life will follow.
