Josephine A. Backowski

Josephine Backowski, born on November 19, 1927, in Rochester, MI, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024. Josephine was a cherished mother, aunt, great-aunt, and a valued member of her community. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephen Backowski, Josephine is survived by her devoted son, Stephen M. Backowski. She will also be deeply missed by her dear nieces, Angela (Greg) and Kathy, and her great-niece and great-nephew, Jacob and Alexis. Josephine was an auxiliary member of the VFW Post 9021, where she dedicated her time and efforts to supporting veterans and their families. She also found joy and camaraderie in bowling, a pastime she greatly enjoyed throughout her life. Josephine Backowski's life was marked by love, service, and a spirited enjoyment of the simple pleasures. Her memory will be forever cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. A visitation will take place on Tuesday (July 23rd) at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Rd. (3Blks E. of Van Dyke) Utica, from 2pm - 8pm. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday (July 24th) at 11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Henry Ford Hospice, an organization that provided comfort and care to Josephine in her final days.
