Josephine "Joy" Anne Flower passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026 at her home in Ormond Beach, Florida surrounded by her family and friends.

Joy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gary Flower of Oyster Bay Long Island, New York and Palm Coast, Florida. She was also preceded in death by her parents George A. Kay and Pauline H. Kay (Schneck) and her brother George P. Kay, and her son Michael S. Marz and her son in law Scott Sweiger and her great grandson Austin Marz.

Joy grew up in Elmont, New York and was a graduate of Sewanhaka High School. Joy and her daughter were members of the RSROA skating association. They skated at the Pine Hollow Rink in Oyster Bay.

In 1980 she moved with her family to Palm Coast, Florida. Joy was an avid reader and enjoyed doing the new York Times crossword puzzles in ink pen to start her day. She enjoyed going to the gym, gardening in her yard and swimming in her youth at the local pool called Walchliff in Elmont, New York. Joy cherished her 1977 Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am which she owned for over 45 years.

Joy worked for the IRS Appellate Division both in New York and Florida. After retirement from IRS she continued working at Halifax Ob/Gyn in medical records for another 15 years.

Joy is survived by her sister in law Mary Kay of Long Island and Stuart, Florida. Mary's daughter Bonnie (Jon Evans) and her five children: Jo-Anne, Stephanie (Michael), Paul (Debra), Gary (Brittany) and George.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Heather (Bryan), Marissa (Ryan), Michael "Mike" (Cierra), David, Jessica, Lauren, and Joseph (Brittany-Nicole) as well as her great grandchildren: Lily, Lydia, Landon, Calliope, James and Taylor.

Joy loved all living things and shared her life with many beloved pets over the years. She will be remembered by her strength, independence, curiosity, and her love for her family.
