Baldwin Brothers Funerals & Cremation Society - Ormond BeachStephen Warren Curtis, 71, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away on December 22, 2025. Born in Oakland, California, Steve was the beloved son of Margaret “Peg” Curtis and Harry Curtis, both of whom preceded him in death.
Steve was a devoted Christian who deeply loved the Lord and lived his faith through his actions, kindness, and commitment to family and friends. A loyal and loving husband, a great dad, and a man who truly made his family a priority, Steve will be remembered for his strong character, generous heart, and steady presence.
Steve enjoyed a long and successful career in Construction Development and Design. He began his career in development and construction of residential homes in NC, later expanding into commercial construction, where he helped build well-known restaurants including Stonewood Grill, Peach Valley Cafe, and Houligan's throughout Florida. For 14 years Steve operated Charles Wayne Construction Services where he built, retrofitted and remodeled all types of commercial real estate properties including Office Buildings, Shopping Centers, and hotels. In the final chapter of his career, he oversaw the development and construction of climate-controlled storage facilities across the country for SAFStor, Inc., retiring in September after decades of dedicated work. Steve's integrity, knowledge and good humor were valued by all those fortunate enough to have worked with him.
Outside of work, Steve embraced life fully. He was an avid fisherman who treasured trips to Alaska with friends, loved spending time on his boat, and found joy in cooking for those he loved. Music was a passion, and he often played guitar for his own enjoyment and others. A lifelong student of Isshinryu karate, Steve began training as a young man and proudly achieved the rank of 6th degree black belt—a testament to his discipline, perseverance, and dedication.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Candace Curtis; his children, daughter Krista Shaw (Jon) of Richlands, North Carolina, son James Curtis of Nagano, Japan; and his cherished granddaughters, Kate and Charlotte Shaw. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sue Shearer (Bill), Beth Bruton (Davey), as well as his brother, Jimmy Curtis.
Steve's life was marked by faith, love, loyalty, and hard work. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion to God, family, and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Redemption City Church, 100 International Tennis Dr., Daytona Beach, FL 32124.
