Josephine Jones Obituary
Josephine Jones (affectionately called Jody) was born on May 27, 1911, in Amherst, Virginia, the daughter of the late John P. Wilson and Mary West Wilson. She was married to the late Willie Cyrus Jones. Their union was blessed with two children, Mary J. McCoy and Cyrus W. Jones.
She was preceded in death by seven sisters, Effie Douglas, Hortense Wilson, Maggie Wilson, Sadie Payne, Mary Pannell, Pauline Jenkins and Martha Kyle; and three brothers, Vatel Wilson, Preston Wilson, and Benjamin Wilson.
She is survived by her two children, nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and staff members of Fairmont Crossing, where she resided for the last 10 years.
As Jody loved flowers, the family will kindly accept them.
Everyone who remembers her is asked to celebrate Josephine's life in their own way. Attending church this Sunday would be most appropriate; or do an unexpected act of kindness for someone less fortunate!
A funeral service will conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Union Hill Baptist Church, Amherst, with burial to follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service times at the church.
