Josephine Julie Meschwitz Ligues,84, passed away on October 26, 2022. Josephine was born March 7,1938 in Greenvine, Texas to Ella (Kwiatkowski) and John Meschwitz.

Josephine, known to many as "Lula", was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She like to play dominos and cards during family gatherings and love to listen to the Houston Astros on the radio. She was a homemaker until all her children finished school and then went to work for the Brenham Police Department's custodial department, where she later retired.

Josephine is preceded in death by her husband, Ambrosio Ligues, sons Larry, Richard and Jeffrey Ligues, her parents, Ella and John Meschwitz, 7 sisters and 4 brothers. She is survived by her sons Anthony Ligues and Bobby Ligues, both of Brenham. Grandchildren: Richard A. Ligues, Alexis (Jimmy) Loya, Jett (Brooke) Ligues, John Ligues, Gena Garza and Victoria Jimenez. Great-granddaughters, Molly Segura, Emmy Loya and Karli Ligues; great-grandsons Micah Black and Achilleas Jimenez. Sister-in-law, Mary Meschwitz and brother-in-law Johnny (Darlene) Ligues and daughter-in-law Lori Ligues.

Visitation only for Josephine will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Brenham Memorial Chapel from 5PM to 7PM. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 10AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church located at 701 Church St., Brenham, Texas with the burial to follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Jett Ligues, John Ligues, Davey Meschwitz, Benjamin Ligues, Richard A. Ligues and Johnny Schafer.

Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel and online condolences for the family may be left at www.brenhammemorialchapel.com.
