Joshua "Aloysius" Leach was born on August 30, 1974, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Sampson and Mina Sue (Colvin) Leach. He departed this life on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in Inola, Oklahoma, at the age of 50.
Josh was raised in Locust Grove and attended Locust Grove public schools. On July 4, 1999, he married the love of his life, Jeri Lynn, at Cedar Grove Church-a meaningful place where he grew up and found lifelong faith. Their love story began on July 4, 1993, and continued for more than 23 years until her passing on November 4, 2016.
A skilled carpenter with a sharp mind for mathematics, Josh worked with his family at Leach Construction before joining DaleCo and later Excalibur in Pryor. No matter where he worked, he was known for his intelligence, common sense, and strong work ethic.
Josh was a man of humor and heart. He had a love for the simple joys in life-catching crawdads (which he jokingly refused to share), cooking (though eating was his favorite part), and enjoying a good hog fry. He loved taking road trips, listening to music, and playing the drums. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
Those who knew Josh will remember his honesty, quick wit, and caring spirit. He didn't sugarcoat things-he told it like it was-but always with love and loyalty. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Josh is survived by: 1 son: Sampson "Lil Sam" Leach of Kenwood, Oklahoma; 1 daughter: Tamica "Baby Meeks" Barker and husband Christopher of Twin Oaks, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren: Sampson "Sausage" Leach, Kyah "Bacon" Leach, Derrick "Link" Jackson, Jerilyn "Alise" Barker, and Grace "Bits" Leach; 1 brother: Sampson "Grape" Leach, Jr. of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 5 sisters: Judy Littledave and husband Skunk of Salina, Oklahoma, Tamara Osage and husband Tracey of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Sammi Leach of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Mary Smith and husband Chase of Chouteau, Oklahoma, and Stephanie Sitsler of Pryor, Oklahoma; his 2 favorite nieces: Gabrielle "Beebs" Sanders and Brooklyn "Busch" Panther; his father-in-law: Jerry Tagg of Kenwood, Oklahoma; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
Josh was preceded in death by his wife, Jeri Lynn; his parents, Sampson and Mina Sue Leach; his grandson, Noah "Noyyah" Leach; his mother-in-law, Velma Tagg; and his sister-in-law, Tonya Reyes.
A celebration of Josh's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Little Rock Baptist Church near Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Cullus Buck will officiate. He will be laid to rest at McClain Cemetery near Locust Grove. Services are entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
