John Nathan Baumert, born on May 26, 1934, in Coalgate, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. He lived a life full of love, service, and joy.
John was a proud veteran who served in the United States Air Force, a commitment that exemplified his dedication to his country. In addition to his military service, he was an active member of the community, teaching school for 30 years where his students called him "Boss". He also spent time dedicating many hours to working on cars for others. His passion for helping people extended to his involvement at Salina First Baptist Church, where he cherished singing with the group known as "By His Grace."
Family was at the heart of John's life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dana Baumert, who remained by his side throughout their years together. He leaves behind two sons: John Nathan Baumert Jr. and his wife, Debbie, and James Lacey Baumert and his wife, Pam, all of Pryor, Oklahoma. John took great pride in his five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, spending precious moments with them and creating lasting memories.
John had a playful spirit, always ready with a joke to share with anyone willing to listen. He adored his dog and, more than anything, loved the Lord. His kind heart and vibrant personality will be missed by those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Elsie (Monroe) Baumert; brother, Larry Baumert; and sister, Billy Holland. John's legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held by John's family at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the Salina First Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Waechter officiating. Sympathy flowers can be sent directly to the church before the start of the service. To leave a personal message, please visit his guest book at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com.
