Joshua Ryan Addington, known to his loved ones as Josh, passed away on October 6, 2023 in Dallas, North Carolina. He was a devoted son, a doting father, and a cherished friend. Born on January 18, 1984 in Gaston County, Josh brought immense joy and warmth into the lives of those around him.

Josh was a 2002 graduate of East Gaston High School and went on to work for Piedmont Machine and Manufacturing in Concord, North Carolina. He dedicated many years of his life to his career and found fulfillment in his work. His commitment and loyalty were admirable qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

While Josh's career was important to him, it was his family and friends who held the greatest place in his heart. He treasured every moment spent with his beloved daughter, Maddie. Whether it was taking her to the park or simply spending quality time at home, their bond was unbreakable. Watching her grow brought him immeasurable happiness.

In addition to his daughter, Josh cherished his parents, Bobby Blair Addington Jr. and Deborah "Debbie" Luebesmier Addington. Their unwavering love and support meant the world to him throughout his life's journey. He shared a special bond with each of his brothers: Jeremy Addington (Heather), Patrick Addington (Kelly), and Brent Addington (Danielle); five nephews and four nieces. Together, they shared countless memories filled with laughter and love.
Friendship played an integral role in Josh's life, and he had an extraordinary best friend named Matt Baldwin since he they were 3 years old. Their friendship spanned years filled with shared adventures, inside jokes, and unwavering support. Josh considered Matt not just a friend but a brother.

Outside of work and family life, one of Josh's passions was working on his cars. He had an innate talent for tinkering under the hood that brought both challenge and satisfaction. Whether it was fixing up his car or simply maintaining his own vehicle. Josh's presence lit up every room he entered. He had a genuine smile that radiated warmth and kindness. Those who knew him can attest to his generous and compassionate nature. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear to anyone in need. His selflessness was truly admirable.

A visitation to honor Josh's life will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation located at 2916 Union Road in Gastonia, North Carolina. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place from 3:00 PM in the Chapel with Pastor Scott Jenkins officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn, Lincolnton at a later date. Friends, family, and all who wish to pay their respects are welcome to attend these services.

Josh leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Though his untimely departure has left a void in the lives of those who loved him, his spirit will forever live on through the countless lives he touched. May we find solace in the memories we shared with Josh and may his light continue to guide us through moments of darkness.
