Joshua Noel Guerra, 33, passed away on March 23, 2024 in Salem, Oregon.
Joshua was born on January 16, 1991 in Portland, Oregon. He was one of two children of Danny and Heidie (Shepherd) Couturier. Joshua attended elementary and middle school in the Forest Grove, Cornelius, and Hillsboro area. He attended Forest Grove High School and went into the Job Corp for culinary school.
While in culinary school Joshua met his first wife Rihannon, with whom he had his son, Javi. They lived in Tacoma, Washington until their separation. Joshua moved back home to pursue a career in massage therapy. It was during his massage therapy training that he met Andrea. Joshua and Andrea started their life together in Tigard, Oregon where they had their son Sawyer. During this time, Joshua worked for Albertina Kerr, an organization supporting at-risk youth. He was with Albertina for 6 years. Not long after Sawyer was born, they decided to live life on the coast at Gleneden Beach. Joshua enjoyed his time on the coast, hiking and exploring with his family. He attended Lincoln City's fire academy and became a volunteer firefighter with the Lincoln City, Oregon fire department. Andrea and Joshua parted ways after 7 years.
Joshua then moved to Salem, Oregon. After his time with the fire department, he began training as an EMT Paramedic in early 2019. Joshua met his wife Katherine while in the program and they had one son, Ezekiel "Egl" Guerra. With the hit of the pandemic, Joshua decided to stop his EMT training and return to massage therapy. He also started "Dad Works" a small landscaping business in 2022. Joshua took a lot of pride in his landscaping and would often show family members his latest projects.
Joshua loved playing guitar and writing his own music. He was an avid UFC and MMA enthusiast. Throughout his life, Joshua touched so many lives with his kindness, sense of humor and charming personality. Joshua enjoyed many things in life, but he loved his children above all else, and they loved him.
He is survived by his children, Javi Guerra, Sawyer Guerra and Ezekiel Guerra; his parents, Danny and Heidie Couturier; his brother, Erich Shepherd; his Grandmother Karen Shepherd, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Josh is preceded in death by his Grandfather Douglas Shepherd and Jose Guerra Sr.
