Joshua Krause Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Joshua M. Krause, age 47, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2025, at his home. A lifelong resident of the Wausau area, Josh lived a life defined by generosity, laughter, creativity, and heart.
Josh began his career at Northwest Tools at just 16 years old, sweeping floors. Over the next 31 years, through dedication and a relentless drive to learn, he mastered every machine in the shop. He was a skilled tradesman, but more than that, he was a cornerstone of his workplace-reliable, respected, and always willing to lend a hand.
Outside of work, Josh's passions ran deep and wide. He was an avid gardener who took great pride in growing his own peppers and vegetables, which he lovingly turned into homemade spices and rubs. He had a gift for bringing flavor and joy into the lives of others.
A devoted volunteer and donor at the Humane Society, Josh had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved cat, Danarys. He was also the energetic force behind local events like the Paddle Crawl, Pub Crawl, and numerous benefits for friends in need-always the first to step up, organize, and give back. Whether he was helping a friend or a stranger, Josh would literally give the shirt off his back or the shoes off his feet. His generosity knew no bounds.
Josh was a natural comedian, always ready with a smile or a well-timed joke to brighten someone's day. His warmth and sense of humor were matched only by his creativity-especially his talent in graphic arts. Many will remember him as the mastermind behind the perfect profile picture or hilarious meme on Facebook.
He was also a man of long-term dreams and determination, having spent the last 20 years working on building his own custom bike-a true labor of love.
Josh is survived by his parents, Shawn Krause and Judy Stiel; sisters, Stephanie, Samantha, and Erin; niece, Lily; nephews, Cameron, Braydon, Braxton, and Malcolm; special friend Katie and her daughters, Gracie and Ryley; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends, and his cherished kitty, Danarys. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Al and Joan Krause, and maternal grandparents, Sy and Marian Stiel; as well as his stepmother, Lorrie Krause.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Ave, Schofield. A Celebration of Josh's Life will continue at the Labor Temple, 318 S 3rd Ave, Wausau, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
Family and friends are encouraged to share photos, stories, and memories at www.honorone.com.
Josh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His spirit, generosity, and laughter will live on in the hearts of many.
