Jovita Hernandez 93, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024. Born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. Jovita spent many years in New York then, when her husband retired, they moved to Port St Lucie, Florida.
Jovita was the beloved wife of her late husband Nicholas Hernandez. Jovita was a loving Mother of three children, Edwin Hernandez (deceased), Nicky Hernandez (deceased) and survived by her daughter Diana Apicella (Joseph) and daughter-in-law Cora Hernandez (Chris). Jovita has 4 grandchildren, Edwin Hernandez Jr. (Jennifer), Tania Hernandez, Joseph J. Apicella and Anthony E. Apicella and 2 great grandchildren, Brandon Hernandez, and Maximo Hernandez, as well as many nieces and nephews and especially her Nephew Angel R Rivera whom she loved like a son.
Jovita loved flowers and was always in her garden. She also loved to read and kept up with all current news and things happening in our world. She also loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She made a Puerto Rican rice that was to die for whom everyone loved.
From humble beginnings Jovita and her husband Nico worked hard to build a well-deserved comfortable life. Her strength of character was best demonstrated by how she continued to find ways to forge ahead with her life after losing both her sons Edwin and Nicky. Jovita was caring and always gave generously to all and is loved by all who knew her. Her memory will continue to be a guiding light to her family and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Words from her granddaughter, Tania, "You are now in paradise with your loved ones on the other side and at peace. My Mama was a woman with the most caring heart, a caregiver to everyone she loved. She would make a room filled with people laugh without even trying...she taught me how to be a strong-willed woman. Thank you for loving me unconditionally. You will be so missed. I love you Mama always and forever."
