Jowel Wallace, Jr., age 18, of Elgin, Texas, entered into eternal rest on September 30, 2025, just four days after joyfully celebrating his 18th birthday on September 26th.
Born on September 26, 2007, in Austin, Texas, Jowel was raised there until 2021, when his family relocated to Elgin. A senior at Elgin High School, he was known for his intelligence, respectfulness, and laid-back spirit.
Jowel loved music, fashion, gaming—especially Fortnite—and eating out. He had a sharp eye for style and a love for laughter. Earlier in September, he proudly began his first job at Little Caesars. He cherished time with his siblings, valued true friendships, and had recently set his sights on furthering his education after graduation, carrying hope and determination for his future.
If anyone ever misunderstood Jowel, it was only because they didn’t take the time to know his heart. He was thoughtful, loving, and full of life—leaving a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him. His humor, loyalty, and quiet strength made him unforgettable.
Jowel is preceded in death by his grandmother, Zina Rowe (NY); grandfather, Zachery Miller (TX); and his uncle, Laron Webb (TX).
Jowel’s memory will forever be cherished by his mother, Treniece (David) Darlington; his father, Jowel Wallace, Sr.; stepmother, Mayra Gutierrez; grandparents, Jennifer Hill and Rogelio (Rosario) Wallace; siblings, Javion, Ja’Nicia, and Ja’Laron Hill, Trenton and Tyler Darlington, Joeandrew Wallace; stepbrother, Thristen Darlington; stepsisters, Yeimy and Clarissa Gutierrez; aunt, LaShanta Hill and others; uncles, Andrew Hill, Aaron Webb Jr., Rogelio Wallace, Jr. and Rodolpho “Rudy” Wallace
The family would like to give special acknowledgment to his Godmother Domoniquie Davis, great aunts Emma Wilson, and Rosa Wallace for the roles they held in his life along with a host of many family members friends near and far.
Jowel’s life was a true gift, and his love touched every role he carried—as a son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, grandson, and friend.
Though his time on earth was brief, the love Jowel shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His light will continue to shine through the memories, laughter, and love he left behind.
Family and Friends will gather for visitation at Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 16th. Jowel's Life Celebration will be held at First Baptist Church of Elgin on Friday, October 17th, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop.
