Joy Brown
March 19, 1941 ~ October 28, 2025

Joy Brown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep October 28, 2025, in Arlington, Texas, after a noble fight against pancreatic cancer. Joy was born March 19, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Max Robert Wagner, Sr. and Mary Brannon.

Joy lived a life full of grace, love, and beauty, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her. She had a way about herself that showed she was as beautiful inside as she was outside. Her kindness, warmth, and joyful spirit were truly inspiring and a gift to all who were blessed to know her. Joy had an incredible sense of style and dressed up beautifully for every occasion, taking pride in her elegant presentation.

Joy was married to Reverend Jerry H. Skelton many years where her love of God and her dedication to Christ shone through in everything she did. Joy continued to strengthen her walk with Christ, even through her illness. She enjoyed daily devotionals and Christian readings until the final day of her life.

On July 17, 2006, Joy married her husband, Garland Brown. Together, they shared many happy years filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents Max and Mary Wagner: her sisters, Mary Lou Phillips and Trudie Cowen; and her brother-in-law, Lon Cowen. She is survived by her devoted husband, Garland M. Brown; her children, J Skelton (Sheila), Angel Nelson (Rick) and Max Wagner (Chris); her sister, Jeanne Thomas; seven grandchildren, Garon, Hunter, Harrison, Weston, Zac, Max III, and Autumn; and three great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Ronan, and Rhett. She also leaves behind other beloved family members and friends who will all miss her dearly.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jeter & Son Funeral Home, 4830 West Illinois Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75211. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the same chapel, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

Joy will forever be remembered for her beauty, grace, and the love she shared so freely with others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A very special "Thank you" to Happiness, Amanda, Patricia, Barbara, Monique, Latricia and Scott for the gentle and loving care you provided to Joy during her illness.
