Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home on Sep. 18, 2024.
Her name says it all, Joy brought happiness and kindness to all who had the pleasure of being around her. It did not matter where you came from, what you were doing, or where you were headed, you had a friend in Joy Hartung Gimble. In the best of times and in the worst of times, you knew you could confide in Joy if you needed someone to be on your side. She was also never one to shy away from having fun. Joy was always the first one out on the dance floor, and she'd always make sure you were the second.
I know what we are all thinking, selfishly, we wish we had one more laugh, one more heartfelt chat, one more spirited and joyful dance. Friends and family are blessed to have shared in Joy's life.
Joy was a staple in the South Padre Island real estate community and remained passionate and driven throughout the entirety of her career. She loved getting out on the water and catching some fish with her brothers Skipper Ray and Bryan Ray, and son Jeff Hartung. How lucky to have so many expert fishermen in the family!
So many people never knew the pain she was feeling during her last months on this earth. She was able to smile, be kind, and be there for other people despite how she was feeling. Throughout her life, Joy continuously demonstrated this extraordinary strength and resilience, all while being the best friend and pillar of support for others in her life.
Joy Patricia Hartung Gimble passed away September 11th, 2024, at the age of 62. Joy was born January 13th, 1962, in Port Isabel, Texas to Joy and Jerry Ray.
The youngest of five children, Joy spent her childhood in Port Isabel, Texas, where she discovered her love of island life. Joy married her high school sweetheart, Jeffrey, and to this marriage two sons were born, Jeff and Josh. Joy reunited with an old friend, and discovered true love with Brent Gimble. Soon after their rekindled romance, they married and moved to
Lindale, Texas.
To honor Joy, throw on some happy music, like George Strait, Jimmy Buffett, or Three Dog Night ("Joy to the World"). No matter where you are, get up and dance like noone's watching, because she will be!
Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Jarrett Manning Ray and Joy Patricia Mahurin; grandparents, Captain Wiley Mahurin, Selma Long Mahurin, Joseph C. Ray, and Daisy Ray, and brother Skipper Ray.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Brent Gimble; children, Jeff Hartung and daughter-in-law Amber Hartung, Josh Hartung; siblings, Bryan D. Ray and Roxanne Ray, Wiley J. Seaton, and Jason P. Ray, sister-in-law India Bowles; grandson, Travis Hartung, and grandpup Rigsy Mae Hartung.
