Joy Elvin Ramsey Horning, 90, of Churchville, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 9th , 2025 at the home of her loving daughter Wendy Tobin. She was born July 22, 1935, in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania, the daughter of Eliza Elvin Ramsey and John Ramsey, of Donegal, Ireland, and the youngest of four. Joy graduated from Olney High School in 1954. After graduation, she enjoyed working at Bell Telephone as a proofreader and serving in the color guard for the Rising Sun Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post Drum and Bugle Corps.

In 1959, she married John Edward [Jack] Horning in Philadelphia. They had two daughters, Wendy Jane and Audrey Jane. Jack preceded Joy in death in 2010. A member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Southampton, Joy was also politically passionate, frequently writing to her representatives on issues of concern to her. She was a staunch advocate of the democratic process, voting in every election since aged 18.

A lifelong Phillies fan, she was also celebrated for her green thumb and a home filled with plants, with a fondness for frogs, both

the living and the decorative variety. She was happiest spending time in Donegal, visiting with family, and celebrating life events. Her recent 90th -birthday party was filled with family, friends, and fun. Possessed of a sharp wit, she made her family laugh up until the very end.
