Joy Mefford Malone

Dur and Martha picked the right name for such a beautiful person. I know all of you will miss her wonderful smile. I'm grateful to have known her and all of you. Praying God will comfort you.

Mrs. Malone was one of the kindest people I knew. She was always warm and welcoming with everyone in which she came into contact with. I am deeply sorry for your family's loss. Even though I didn't quite enjoy piano lessons, I always firmly believed that she was the best pianist in the world! Wish I could have been there for visitation and the funeral. Much love and take care.

For Joy's family and especially to Beth and Lori, whom I know so well, my deepest symphony. I knew Martha and Durwood and Mary, Leslie and your grandmother through the CP Church and from Galloway reunions. We are all part of the linage of Zachariah Galloway. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Joy strummed her guitar for our sixth-grade slumber party. She gave us the words to folksongs, Mary, Paul, and Mary long before any of us knew or understood how important those words should be to all of us.

Dearest David and family, there are indeed no words to express the deep sadness I feel for this great loss in all of your lives. I am praying for you today and will continue to pray in the coming days and weeks, and even years. It was my great privilege to have known your dear wife and mother, and I pray that our Great God and Father will comfort you and bless you with and abundance of His dear Spirit. I look forward to seeing her again in the heavenly realms of glory as I know all of you do. So sorry that you lost this wonderful lady. Her talents will be missed. Now she is in the Master's arms and at peace. God will give you peace to understand the whys of taking our loved ones.

Words cannot adequately express my sadness upon learning about Joy's passing. She was such a a gifted gal and used her musical talents to glorify God. I feel blessed to have known her! May Joy's life continue to inspire us and memories of her sustain us. I pray that God will give her family the strength, comfort and peace needed to get through this difficult time.

Beautiful. I am so thankful to have been blessed in knowing Joy & David, Katie & Mark and Judson and Piper and Caroline, Emily, Calvin (a little), and Janie (a little)... I love you all so much, and am thankful for your openness in welcoming me into your sorrow and your joy. Joy's life is a testimony to the Father's faithfulness, Christ's sufficiency, and the love of the Spirit. May God be glorified even more through her death and our memories of Joy than He already has been through her life.

Joy was a wonderful talented musician and friend. I will remember our times at First Baptist Church in Richmond, Kentucky and at EKU. I got the change to see her 20 years ago in Louisville, Kentucky at the KMA conference. We had time to sit down and have a conversation that made us both laugh. I will never forget her kindness, her dedication to her church, and family. You will be missed by many.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this time. It was certainly an honor and a pleasure to have known Joy. She brought great joy and testimony to God through her music to so very many.

What can I say about Joy Malone that hasn't already been said? Of all the people that I have interacted with over the years, Joy was the most "Christian". Hers was sincere and authentic. She was genuinely interested in what you had to say. Her voice was kind. She, and her husband David, are one of those "foundational" people that make an indelible imprint on a person's life. For me, they will never be forgotten. Today, I am sad, because I will never see Joy's face physically. However, I am not without hope. One day, we will all see Him face to face. On that day, I will be singing with the saints, and Joy will be playing her piano, singing all along as well. I will miss you Joy. Rest in peace.
