Joy Marvin

Clayton - Joy Marvin, age 82, of Clayton passed away Tuesday, February 6, under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Lenawee. Joy was born December 7, 1941, in Onsted, the daughter of Seward and Velma (Smith) Shepherd. On May 30, 1963, in Adrian, Joy married James Marvin. Jim and Joy owned and operated Marvin Farms, Inc. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson and Holy Family Parish, St Mary's Campus in Adrian. She dedicated her life to promoting milk, and the dairy industry by visiting schools and hosting tours on the farm. She was fondly known to many children over the years as the Cow Lady! She was a faithful servant at Bixby Hospital Auxiliary, St. Mary's Rosary Altar Society, Clayton Woman's Club, and 4-H. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going to any and all of their events.
Surviving Joy are her four children: Julie Marvin-Manders of Onsted, Janis (Edward) Montalvo of Tecumseh, Jimmy (Maria) Marvin of Manitou Beach, and Joseph (Danya) Marvin of Phoenix, AZ; Grandchildren, Benjamin (Katy) Montalvo and Elisabeth (Reilly) Butz, Taylor and Jessica Manders, Jennifer (Ty) Brewington, Jeffrey and Mallory Marvin, Emelia, Bridget, Grace, Max, James, Abraham, Vivian, and Alex Marvin; Great Grandson, Oliver James Montalvo; Sister, Carol Brooks of Adrian. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents, son Jeffrey W Marvin, and siblings Sharon Brittain and Warren Shepherd.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 3-7 pm with a scripture service at 7:00 pm at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. The funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:00 am until the time of the service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson with Fr. Todd Koenigsknecht as celebrant. A private burial will be held at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery in Adrian.
In true Joy tradition, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, the money be donated to the Jeffrey William Marvin Scholarship fund, Hospice of Lenawee, Sacred Heart Church, or the amazing charity of your choice.
