Joy Louise Melton, age 91, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025 at her home in Clovis.Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 1:30pm, First Christian Church, with Pastor Jon Forrest officiating, 1700 N. Main Street Clovis, New Mexico

Joy was born on June 9, 1934, to Harold Hussey and Wanda Molzan in Kingsville, Ontario, Canada. She married James Cooper Melton on March 23, 1973, in Clovis, NM and was married for forty years until his passing in 2012. Joy was a retired ESL teacher in Bovina, TX. She was in the Pictures Art League working in oils, acrylics and watercolors. Joy loved volunteering as a Pink Lady at Plains Regional Medical Center. She was also a member of the Pintoras and La Escalera Art Leagues in Portales, NM. Joy was a member of First Christian Church and enjoyed teaching the senior ladies Sunday School Class there. Joy enjoyed so many activities. She loved painting, reading, bible study, playing piano, watching tv (westerns) and taking walks in the park.

Survivors include sons; Stanley Miller (Darlene) of Bovina, TX and William Miller of Elizabethton, TN, daughters; Jody Stanberry of Clovis, NM and Laurie Profeta (Dennis) of Tampa, FL, one brother; Joseph Hussey (Virginia) of Toronto, Canada, grandchildren; James Stanberry , Justin Stanberry, Luke Miller, Rebecca Miller, Hannah Sacco, Heather Seward, Misti Thoma, Jenny Bryan and Dylan Profeta, great grandchildren; Samantha Walker, Dylan Thoma, Alexia Thoma, Drake Stanberry, Carmen Stanberry, James Stanberry III, Jack Stanberry, Lily Barnhart, Jameson Seward, Finnegan Seward and one great-great grandson Eli Armendariz.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Harold Hussey and Wanda Molzan, one daughter; Leslie Morrow, son-in-law; Kent Stanberry, and her husband James Melton.
