Joy Murcko Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home - Derby on Oct. 7, 2025.
Joy Louise Murcko (Esposito), 61, of Derby, Connecticut, passed away suddenly on October 5, 2025. Born on June 10, 1964, she was the beloved wife of Gary Murcko, her safe haven, confidant, and best friend, with whom she had just celebrated 36 years of marriage. Joy was the devoted mother of her daughter, Ariell Murcko, and her husband, Derrick Longo. She was the cherished daughter of the late Bonnie Esposito, as well as her father, Peter. She was a fierce protector and supporter of her loving brother, Andrew, and sister, Pamela.
Known for her generous heart, perseverance, and willingness to help, Joy found her greatest joy in family. She loved gardening, cooking holiday meals, and was famous for her homemade sauce. Her grandchildren - Lucas, Lively, Lacey, Layne, and Lorelei - adored their "Nana," who filled their lives with love, snuggles, and treats. A mother figure to her nieces and nephews she leaves behind - William, Victoria, Bella, and Rosie - along with countless friends and loved ones. Joy is reunited in eternal peace with her mother, Bonnie.
Throughout the years, Joy also served as a foster parent, opening her heart and home to children in need. For the last decade, she has built a second family as a friend of Bill W. Her compassion and steady kindness touched many lives.
Friends are invited to greet Joy's family on Friday October 10 from 4 PM to 6:30 PM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. Her funeral service will begin in the funeral home at 6:30 PM. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.adzimafh.com.

We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our dear guest, Joy Murcko. Joy was more than a frequent visitor to The Hotel Maria-she was part of our extended family. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine spirit touched everyone she met here.

Our team will fondly remember her cheerful conversations, bright smile, and the joy she brought to each of her stays with us.

Please know that our hearts are with Joy´s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We share in your sorrow and send our deepest sympathies.

With heartfelt condolences,

Joy opened up her home to me as a little girl treating me like another daughter to her. I'll never forget baking and cooking with her. Late night bows of ice cream and vacationing with her and her family to Pennsylvania and weekend camping. She loved fiercely and will be greatly missed.

Joy ~ that wasn´t just her name, it´s who & what she was.... a Joy.
From the time I met her, even during some of her toughest days, she would always help out someone else. She always paid attention to the people around her and could tell if something was off. Of course, then she´d offer some kind words & support.
That´s who she was....
I´ll cherish the time we spent together, the good, the bad & the ugly....
but mostly fun!!!
I´ll miss the days of exercising together in the pool.
I´ll never forget such a wonderful friend!!

My heart goes out to Gary, and all of her family.
She Raved about her family!!
You all meant the world to her.!!
She was a super proud mother & grandmother, and Aunt!!
