Joy Lynn Taylor was born March 2nd,1950, as the 2nd child and only daughter of the late Cecil Erwin and Evelyn Erwin. She passed away January 1st, 2025, at Jackson General Hospital with family present, at the age of 75.
She is survived by her husband of over 56 years- Lowell Taylor; and two sons- Chris (Melisa) Taylor of Dyer TN & Jon (Joni) Taylor of Brownsville TN.
Joy will also be fondly remembered by her Grandchildren- Shane, Sean, Sammie Jo, Brannon, Kaliea & Christina; 5 cherished Great- Grandchildren; and an extensive family of spiritual brothers and sisters, and many beloved friends.
Joy was predeceased by her Parents, Cecil & Evelyn Erwin; her brother, Kenneth Erwin; and her son, Troy Taylor.
Joy was born in Gibson County TN, where she lived throughout her life. She met the love of her life Lowell, and they married May 23rd, 1968. They welcomed three treasured sons, and many adventures followed. She had a brilliant mind for business and together they started several businesses and were true partners. She loved to share her restaurant creations of lasagna, chili & rolls with her friends.
Her mobility issues never held her back from travel adventures. Very recently she & Lowell went on the 9-month long trip they had always dreamed of to AZ, NM, NV, the Grand Canyon, and along the CA coast. They felt the support of many friends they met along the way.
Her baptism in 1972 began a 56-year lifetime of devotion to Jehovah God and love of sharing what she learned from the Bible. Her interest brought parents, brother, uncle, extended family to also learn what she had found there. She had a scripture for every subject and did her best to serve God to the very end.
Her wit, wisdom, and humor reminds us how she truly lived up to her name. She was a “Joy” to be around. She had a way of giving real life advice with wit & humor, like her father Cecil. She was truly loved by her family, friends and neighbors and will be deeply missed by all.
