Dorothy "Joy" Taylor, 94, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Brickyard Healthcare in Tell City, Indiana.

Born October 21, 1931, in Troy, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Anna Jane (Risse) Howe.

Joy graduated from Troy High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Charles "Don" Taylor on October 18, 1953. They shared 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.

Joy was employed at General Electric, Newman Grade School as a teaching assistant, and Scott's Insurance as an administrative assistant. She was a faithful member of Troy First Christian Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, playing euchre, bowling, and watching her favorite teams-IU, UK, and Purdue. Joy also enjoyed dining out but was an excellent cook.

Survivors include her children, Michele Buxton of Opelika, AL; Sonia Taylor of Tell City; and Kimberly (David) Ward of Tell City; and her grandchildren, Lauren Buxton and Seth Ward.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Marshall, Ray Howe, Chick Howe, Norman Howe, and Earl Howe; her beloved grandson, Joshua Ward; and her son-in-law, Buck Buxton.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Troy City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2026, and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
