Joyce Ann Taylor Alder, 78 of Lewisburg, peacefully walked into the Heavenly Father's arms on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Her family was by her side.
Joyce was a member of Laurel Hill Regular Baptist Church at Trout, was a CNA for Denmar, Shenandoah Manor and Greenbrier Manor nursing homes, was also a private caregiver to many, was a member of Renick Senior Group, and Seneca Trail CB Club of Renick. While living in Williamsburg, she was very active in the Williamsburg Rescue Squad, the Williamsburg Historical Foundation; helped with the Ramp and Bear dinners and was always willing to assist in other community activities.
She was met at the pearly gates by her parents, Elmer Ray Taylor and Nannie Ola Wyatt Taylor Grieman; sisters, Lola Jean Taylor, Oma Jane Wimer and Geneva "Sis" Mays (Ivan); brothers, Barney Wyatt, Robert "Rob" Taylor, Roy "Brad" Taylor (Lucille), James "Jim" Taylor (Pat), Junior R. "June" Taylor and Kenneth D. Taylor; brothers-in-law, Donald Doyle, Roy D. Aylor and Walt Few; as well as her special son-in-law, Jerry D. Michael.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of almost 62 years, Roger Lee Alder; her five children, Janet Michael of Lewisburg, Rosa Owens (Brian) of Renick, David Alder (Emily) of Fairlea, William E. "Will" Alder and fiancée, Melinda of Lewisburg and Tina Ford (Matt) of Ronceverte; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one on the way; several other grand and great grandchildren who need not be blood she considered to be her own. Also surviving is a brother Delano "Chig" Taylor (Mildred) of Florida; sisters; Lois Aylor of Virginia, Doris Richardson (Jerry) and Peggy Few of Maryland; many special sisters-in-law including Wanda Taylor Robinson and Margie Taylor of Maryland. She has numerous extended family members she loved that are too many to mention.
A visitation will be held 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg,
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, June 14, 2024 at the funeral home in Lewisburg, with Pastor John Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellis Chapel Cemetery near Renick.
The family would like to thank the staff at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg for all their special care and attention to mom and the family.
