Benson, NC: Mrs. Joyce Watson Barbour, age 91, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, with her loving family by her side. Funeral Services will be 12:00PM-Friday, March 24, 2023 at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson, NC. Rev. Glenn McCullen will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC.
Mrs. Barbour was born in Wilson County, NC to the late Forrest Venton and Lettie Marler Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Harold Barbour and a brother, Frank Watson. Mrs. Barbour was a homemaker, and a member of Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Elaine B. Reed of Garner, NC; son, Timothy H. Barbour and wife, Cristina Carusi-Barbour of Superior, Colorado; granddaughters, Erin Clark of Clayton, NC, Nicole Barbour of San Francisco, California, and Kristin Barbour of Irvine, California; great-grandchildren, Abby Clark and Zac Clark; sister, Dorothy W. Denning of Benson, NC; many nieces and nephews.
There will be an open-door visitation from 10:30AM-11:45AM, Friday, March 24, 2023 at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson, NC.
The family will be meeting at the home of Elaine Reed. The family would appreciate a call or text before you visit.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the SECU Hospice House, PO Box 1376 Smithfield, NC 27577.
