Joyce Bennett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Niles on Jan. 15, 2026.
Joyce Bennett, born August 5, 1943, in Baroda, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Niles, Michigan, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Joyce lived an exceptional life of 82 years, filled with the joy of family, a devoted motherhood, and the comfort of her beloved cats.

A daughter to the late Arland and Opal (Hart) Wall, Joyce grew up imbued with the values of hard work and the importance of family, qualities she carried throughout her life. Her dedication to her family was unwavering. Joyce was married to Rockford Bennett, her late husband, whom she loved, until his passing.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Zelphia Quick, Nancy Ferrell, Matthew Bennett, Angela Kessick, and Neil Bennett. Joyce was preceded in death by her dear son, Kelly Bennett. She was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren-all of whom she adored immensely.

Joyce's life was enriched by simple pleasures. She was an avid goer to garage sales, where she would find hidden gems that others overlooked. This hobby brought her great joy and demonstrated her belief in the value of reusing and repurposing long-forgotten items. She was a big Nascar fan, watching many races and loved seven time cup champion, #48, Jimmie Johnson.

A testament to her nurturing spirit, Joyce was not only a devoted mother and grandmother, but also a caring guardian to the many cats she welcomed into her home over the years. Each of them was given a loving home and a place in her heart, showcasing her capacity for kindness and compassion.

Services will be private and held at a later date.

Joyce's legacy is one of love, perseverance, and warmth. She was a hard worker, a giver of laughter, and a true friend to many. While her presence on this earth will be sorely missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. The memory of Joyce Bennett will forever be a touchstone for what it means to live a life filled with love, laughter, and the quiet grace of the everyday. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has found peace and is reunited with her loved ones who passed before her. Joyce's memory will be treasured, her stories retold, and her kindness remembered by all whose lives she touched.
