Joyce Ann Hampton Brockus, age 76, a resident of East Prairie, died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Cotton Point Senior Living Center in Matthews, MO.
Joyce was born July 6, 1948, at East Prairie, MO, to the late Cledith Earl "Nub" Hampton and Mary Katherine Cooper Hampton on her grandpa Hampton's farm. She was delivered by Dr. Weaver's grandfather, Dr. Sam Martin who was a good friend of her grandpa. He told grandpa Hampton that anyone could tell who her grandpa was as she looked so much like him.
Joyce's grandparents were Walter and Mable Cooper and David Melton and Mary Hampton.
Joyce married Freddie Lee Brockus on September 21, 1964, and he preceded her in death August 18, 1985.
Joyce and Freddie had four kids between them, Bruce, Kenny, David and Carol Lee. Joyce had several dogs she loved dearly, Pepper and Jazzie. They were her babies. When they died, she grieved hard.
Joyce has three grandchildren, Christia Ray, Jonathan Pritchett and Cooper Brockus and three great grandchildren, she loved dearly, Lila and Amelia (Millie) Teague and Creed Pritchett.
Joyce also has three kids that she loved as her own, Tammy Branam, Tonya Branam Marks and Scott Branam. Their mother, Joyce Branam and Joyce were friends since they were 10 years old.
Joyce was the L.B. Price Lady for 15 years and was known as the "rug" lady. She later took care of elderly people around town and dearly loved them.
Joyce is survived by her children, David Brockus and Carol Pritchett and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce and Kenny and by her sisters, Betty Jenkins and Mary Costa.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2025, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Graveside services will immediately follow at the Dogwood Cemetery with Keith Cook officiating.
Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
