Joyce M Commerford

Joyce M. Commerford (née Zach), aged 73, passed away on August 12, 2024, in Burnsville, MN. Born in the City of Breckenridge, MN, Joyce dedicated her life to her family, career, and community.

Joyce had a long and varied career, having worked at Target, Kohls, and Northwest Airlines, where she was known for her dedication and work ethic. Joyce was deeply religious, actively participating in her local churches, All Saints of Lakeville and Risen Savior of Apple Valley, where she formed lasting bonds within her community.

A devoted wife to David and loving mother to Chuck (Megan), Doug (Abby), and Kevin (Dani), Joyce was a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren: Amelia, Thea, Isla, June, Russel, Maggie, and Bennett. Her family was the centerpiece of her life, and she loved spending time with them, especially playing board games and assembling puzzles.

Joyce was known for her generosity, volunteering her time at the Delphi House and with Pregnancy Choices. She was also a champion cake baker and quilter, and her artistic talents were evident in her beautiful garden which was a place of joy and tranquility for her and her visitors.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Ted Zach and Helen Weiser Zach, as well as her father-in-law Donald Commerford and mother-in-law Mildred Schutt Commerford.

Services to honor Joyce's life will be held at Summit Funeral Home in Inver Grove Heights, MN, with a visitation on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 4-7 PM, and one hour before the funeral service. The funeral service will take place at All Saints Catholic Church in Lakeville, MN, on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11 AM. Summit Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Joyce's legacy of love, art, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
