Wilma Joyce (Shelton) Conner, 87, of Elizabethtown, previously of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. She was born on August 21, 1937, in Hamilton County, Illinois, the daughter of Hobert and Frieda (Davis) Shelton. Joyce married Lyle S. Conner on January 24, 1960, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 2010. Joyce worked as a secretary at the Illinois State Capital Building for 10 years. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Kindra Denham of Elizabethtown, IL, Kimberly Hylton of Elizabethtown, IL. and Kristen (Michael) Monson of Anna, IL; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Irene Shelton of McLeansboro, IL; and uncle, Charlie Davis of Lake of Egypt, IL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Lyle S. Conner, Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, and step-father, Clarence Drake; siblings, Neva Mae Hasara, Patsy Sue Phelps, Buddy Shelton, Donald Shelton and Dean Shelton.
Funeral services for Joyce Conner will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, with burial at Mt. Oval Cemetery in Norris City. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City or may be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821.
