Joyce Wernik Dickey

Joyce Wernik Dickey age, 88, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital.

Born in Germantown, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Wernik.

Joyce was a 1955 graduate of Cape May High School. She was active in the Baptist faith throughout her life, serving as an Acteen director, Sunday school teacher, youth choir director and adult choir member. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, which won her numerous blue ribbons at the South Carolina State Fair. She also served as Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader.

Survivors include a son, Reverend Stephen E. Dickey, Sr. and his wife Phyllis Dickey of Anderson, SC; a daughter, Judith L. Dickey of Greenville, SC and a son, Michael D. Dickey of Pawleys Island, SC. Mrs. Dickey leaves four grandchildren, Ashley Dickey Wilson and her husband, Dr. Andrew Wilson of Anderson, SC, Rev. Stephen E. Dickey Jr. and his wife Kirstie of Anderson, SC, Paul D. Kountz III and his wife Jennifer of Atlanta, GA, Kristin Kountz Hill and her husband Ryan of Atlanta, GA; she also had eleven great grandchildren, Abigail Grace Wilson, Emma Margaret Wilson, Andrew Thomas Wilson, Jr., John (Jack) Marshall Wilson, Elijah Stephen Dickey, Cameron Elisabeth Dickey, Claire Christina Dickey, Jack MacArthur Kountz, Charles Francis Kountz and Gregory Joseph Hill, Katherine Judith Hill.

Mrs. Dickey was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Jack Dickey.

Services will be private.
