DUNLAY, Joyce – of Clio, age 100, died peacefully on July 3, 2024, at Bavarian Comfort Care. Funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Bethany United Methodist Church – 353 E. Vienna St., in Clio, Michigan.. Burial at Thetford Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 4PM until 8PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Bethany United Methodist Church.
Joyce was born August 12, 1923, in Clio, to the late Glendon and Eliza (Jones) Sheridan. She graduated from Clio Community Schools and received her bachelor's degree in arts from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. Joyce proudly worked as a second-grade teacher at Clio Elementary School for several years. On October 17, 1943, she married Kenneth Dunlay, and together they shared 61 years of marriage. Kenneth preceded her in death on August 7, 2004. Joyce was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church where she was a member of Esther Circle. Outside of church she was a member of the Michigan Order of the Eastern Star and the Clio Jr. Women's Club. Joyce enjoyed keeping her hands busy with beading and making flower arrangements. Above all, she loved her family dearly and cherished every memory made with them. Joyce was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Joyce is forever remembered by her Daughter, Candace Nowacek; Grandchildren: Denise (Chris) Ordway, Danielle (Brian) Sheaffer, and Justin (Lisa) Callahan; Great-Grandchildren: Skyler Ordway, Paige Ordway, Logan Sholty-Sheaffer, Alison Sheaffer, Emily Callahan, and Nathan Callahan; Special Nephew, Eugene Dunlay; Many extended family members and wonderful friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Kenneth; Parents, Glendon and Eliza; Son, David Dunlay; Grandson-in-law, Daniel Sholty.
