Joyce Ann Gill, 85 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Monday, December 29, 2024 at her residence comforted by family following an 8 year battle with Dementia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson, Nebraska with Father Mark Beran as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Rural Jackson, Nebraska. Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joyce was born on March 13, 1939 in Bow Valley, Nebraska to Joseph V. and Evelyn (Irle) Dougherty. She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School with the Class of 1957. Joyce spent a few years in the Ponca area of Nebraska before she married Michael R. Gill in September of 1976 in Elk Point, South Dakota. She worked for M.C. I before becoming the owner of the Patio Lounge in Sioux City, Iowa. She made gardening her hobby throughout her life.
Joyce is survived by her husband Mike R. Gill of Sioux City; daughters Kimberly Carter of Omaha, Nebraska, Alisha Williamson of Carroll, Nebraska, and Mary Dujmich of Staten Island, New York; sisters Jackie Bland of Sioux City, Iowa, Peggy Magda of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Donna Schubert of Sarasota, Florida; brother Jim Dougherty of Sioux City, Iowa; stepdaughter Gerri Lou Gill; and stepsons Michael Gill, Shawn Gill, and Daniel Gill.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers John “Bud” Dougherty and Tony Dougherty.
