Ferrari Funeral Services - Coal CityEric Von Gill, age 53, of Bradley, IL formerly of Coal City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
He was born on December 10, 1972 in Morris, IL to Dwight L. Gill and Barb A. Shain. He was raised and educated in the Coal City area, graduating from Coal City High School in 1992. A sports enthusiast, Eric played high school football and wrestling and was a longtime fan of Coal City sports. He enjoyed his work as a production manager with Servpro and was willing to step up to help others with his knowledge. He has even traveled to the hurricane affected areas of Florida and the east coast for his job. In his spare time, Eric and his boss had fun with outings to the Chicago Cubs games. Most of all, Eric was tender hearted. He had a penchant for helping others whenever he could and even in the hospital, treated the staff with politeness and respect.
He is survived by his wife, Tracie Gill; his parents, Barb Shain of Coal City and Dwight (Linda) Gill of Vienna, IL; his children, Jonathan Gill of the US Navy, stationed in Virginia and Kaitlyn (Nathan) Crane of Arkansas; his grandson, Hayden Crane; his brother, Tony (Amanda) Gill of Coal City; his nieces and nephews, Peighton, Natalie, Alaina and Carter Gill and his special “Nana”, Lily Murphy. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
