Joyce Joycelyn Griffith

Joyce Griffith, age 81, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 18, 1944, in San Fernando, Trinidad, Joyce was a woman of warmth, kindness, and quiet strength. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Edward Griffith and was predeceased by her mother, Linda Adora Nellie Meade, and her sister, Judith Meade.

Joyce's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted children, Mary Elizabeth and Sherwin Griffith, and her cherished grandchildren, Louis and Mary, who brought endless light to her life. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings, Janet Bass, Carol Canniegieter, John Canniegieter, and Arthur Meade, along with her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who adored her.

A retiree of the Town of Greenwich, Joyce gave more than 20 years of dedicated service to the Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home. She was admired by colleagues and patients alike for her tireless work ethic and her gentle, caring spirit.

Those who knew Joyce will remember her selflessness most of all. She was a giving soul who never hesitated to put others before herself. Whether it was offering a kind word, cooking a meal, or giving her last dollar to help someone in need, Joyce's compassion knew no limits. She was an active supporter of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester, New York, and she enjoyed the simple joy of playing bingo with friends and family.

She had a special way of making everyone she met feel like family. She loved to cook and upheld the traditions she brought from Trinidad, filling every room with laughter, love, and grand gestures of generosity. Her children, siblings, and the rest of her family were the pride of her life, and she poured her heart into every moment with them.

Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family hopes to carry forward her spirit of generosity and love for others.

She will be remembered as a guiding light-forever loved, forever cherished, and forever missed.
