Joyce Marie Grimes, age 72, of Kenney, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on August 26, 2025.
Joyce was born on June 16, 1953, in Brawley, California, to Robert Lee and Tavania Ruth (Arnold) Beerbower. She grew up in South Texas and graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School. After attending college, she moved to Houston, where she worked as an office manager in the plumbing industry. On June 3, 1995, Joyce married the love of her life, Corbit Wayne Grimes, in Lubbock, Texas. Together they were blessed with 30 wonderful years of marriage.
Joyce enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She could often be found curled up with a good book, or hunting for treasures at thrift stores and garage sales. She loved being near the water, whether it was a day at the beach or a peaceful afternoon at the lake. Some of her happiest moments were the adventures she shared with her sisters. From spontaneous road trips and shopping outings to long talks and laughter that only sisters could share. She also took pride in keeping flowers blooming around her home and had a well-kept, welcoming yard for all who visited. Above all, she cherished her family and friends, and she adored her nieces and nephews, who brought her endless joy. Joyce will be remembered for her loving
heart, warm spirit, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Tavania Beerbower; siblings Doris Beerbower, Terry Beerbower, Sharon Dobbs and Patricia Cole.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband Corbit; siblings James Hampton and wife Jan, Ted Beerbower, Paula Ottaway and Linda Laskowski and husband Tommy; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 2:00pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jay Grave officiating.
Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, Texas 77833. 979.836.3611. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.brenhammemorialchapel.com
