Joyce E. (nee: Robbins) Haertel, 99, formerly of Racine and Kenosha, passed away in Janesville on April 7, 2025.
Joyce was born in Kenosha on May 21, 1925, the daughter of Willard and Violet (nee: Canavan) Robbins. She was united in marriage to Ralph Haertel on August 18, 1945, in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1986.
Joyce worked as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly for many years.
First and foremost in Joyce's life was her love of Jesus. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and most recently Racine Assembly of God. Joyce often ministered to others, evangelizing and spreading the love of Christ wherever she went. In her free time, she enjoyed travel, crafting, life groups, swimming at her condo, and regularly listening to classical music on WFMT.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her daughters, Ursula (David) Rinn and Lise York; grandchildren, Eric (Dawn) Rinn, Robin (Chris) Jason, Benjamin Rinn, Steven (Angela) York, Carol Solomon, James (Heather) York, and Gregory York; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She goes on to be reunited with her husband, Ralph Haertel; brother and sister-in-law, William and Martha Robbins; son-in-law, Mike York; and great-grandson, Brandon Willis.
Burial will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at West Lawn Memorial Park at 10:30 a.m. All those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery entrance.
