Joyce E. Haferman

Joyce Eudore' (Proctor) Haferman, 98 years young, of Onalaska, WI and formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, died 12/16/2024 at Riverside Transitional Care, La Crosse, WI.
Born October 9, 1926, in the Village of Biron to Charles V. and. Nina I. (Allison) Proctor, she attended Biron and Wisconsin Rapids schools and was a graduate of Lincoln High School in 1944. She attended Steven's Point Teachers College for two years. She married Herbert W. Haferman on October 16, 1948, at the First Congregational Church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Joyce and Herb created a wonderful family that included four boys and one girl. After being involved with church and community for many years, Joyce returned to the University of Steven's Point and completed a Bachelor's Degree in Science in 1973. She taught science at the high school level in chemistry, physics, and geology. Joyce was an active member of the Heart of Wisconsin Gem and Mineral Society and served as president for two years.
After retiring, Joyce and Herb moved to the La Crosse area. Joyce was an active member and volunteer of the First Congregational Church in La Crosse. Joyce and Herb enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and brothers in law, Carole (Waldemor) Ristow, Alberta (Lawrence) Nelson, Connie (William) Cross, Donajean (Richard) Stengl, and one brother, Charles Proctor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert W. Haferman, December 4, 2002.
She is survived by her five children, nine grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren. David (Jerri) Haferman, Daniel (Sally Jacobson) Haferman, Peter (Julia) Haferman, Mark (Nancy) Haferman, and Mary (Keith) Kron.
The family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Transitional Care Center in La Crosse, WI for all the loving care they gave to Joyce over the years and especially in her last week of life.

Funeral home services will be held at Ritchay Funeral Home, 1950 12th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI on January 18, 2025. Visitation from 9-11am. Service at 11am.
